...Just rewatched Beauty and the Beast

Dammit. The musical has completely spoiled me. The film is still lovely and adorable and gorgeous.

:wails: It's just not as funny and people aren't having sex or trying to get off with each other all over the place! There's no filthy, filthy innuendo. There's no Beast being a complete *boy*. No gestures. No adorable in the gawky way. No Gaston being slashy with Lefou and manhandling him. There aren't enough people chewing the scenery for the hell of it. 'Be Our Guest' and 'Human Again' don't work as well. ... :pout: It really, really doesn't help that the film's focus is Belle and the musical's is the Beast and the supporting cast, all of whom are far more funny and sexual than she is. (actually, watching the musical, it's quite clear that everyone has a sex life in it besides Belle and the Beast. Who seem oddly innocent for most of it. Might just be the actors we saw. Though in the film, it's clear about two seconds after the Beast changes back to human, they're shagging like rabbits. Seriously. As soon as they finish the first kiss, just watch 'em.)

:sigh:

Oh, and a final thought : Post transformation, Belle gets Jason Donovan in the film. Which you'd probably go 'he's pretty in a bland way, I can live with it.'
West End, John Barrowman's run, it'd be '...Wow. I get *this*? Hello *Nurse*.'
(Though of course Taz had to point out that after a bit it'd be 'yes, I get *this*, but I also get to reel him back in every time a cute arse of either sex walked past. Oh well, some things you just have to live with.')

Reminds me, aside from the Captain Jack fic, I also have to finish writing up the Cinders fic. Bloomin' fairytales. Where's a Dread Pirate Westley when you need one?
