:facepalm: ah, the fun of trying to explain rants - this was the writing up of a conversation I had off-line. The Dickens thing is an example of 'writers I can see are damn good but don't read because I don't like their style' (also see Michelangelo, Hardy, Scorcese).

And yes, I have left feedback on the other two when I liked their fic. [livejournal.com profile] laurab1, it's not so much a case of editing as 'if she'd stopped it at this point, it would have been enough, it's the fact that she tends to keep going a few parts too long'

:shrug: I always cite exact examples - they were just examples of fic writers I read, but know there will always be a caveat in the back of my mind.

ETA, out of curiosity, where was this post linked from? just curious more than anything since I didn't see any of my direct flist link it.
