certificates of live birth

Sparked by an entry over on [livejournal.com profile] clothsprogs journal about ID stupidity.

You know how they always say they'll accept birth certificates?

What the hell does a 'normal' birth certificate look like? I wouldn't know one if you whacked me in the face with it. I've seen mine once and I doubt it would pass muster as ID, unless they were going with '....okay, no way would anyone take the trouble to forge *that*.' as their criteria. What does your look like?

For those interested, mine is a three-inch long bit of carbon-copy dot matrix paper with the hole-punch bits down the sides. It's severely tattered and creased. And says 'Certificate of Live Birth'. With... um... I think it had my parents' names, my name, 'girl' and the surgery on it.

I'm lazy, so I'll just say mine looks like this too. It looks nice and shiny and new because it's a recent replacement copy of the original.
