TV Schedulers... I hate you.
Oct. 23rd, 2002 02:22 pmSeriously. Last night, practically the only thing worth watching at 9pm was Dawn French's new series. (which turned out to be immensely unfunny).
Tonight at 9pm?
BBC1 : Prof Robert Winston with a piece on human instinct. The man is a god.
BBC2 : last ep of Tipping the Velvet. Transvestite lesbian Victorians!
ITV : some dating programme. boring. we wonder why they're losing ratings...
C4 : Faking It. Tomboy kickboxer has to pass as a Latin Ballroom dancer. These things are fantastic.
Five : The First Pompeii. Excavating a Bronze Age village that got destroyed by the volcano 2,000 years before the Roman version did. Tempt me, you bastards, why don't you...
They're really trying to give us schizophrenia, aren't they? Was already having schizoid over Tipping the Velvet and Faking It, now they tell me there's archaeology and Robert Winston. And I don't have a video. :moan:
EDIT : ended up flicking between Faking It and The First Pompeii. Both of which were fantastic. The kickboxer girl even got through to the final of the dance competition she had to enter as the final test, even though the judges did ID her as the faker. Though fake tanned, haircut and hair dyed dark, that girl had *serious* resemblance to Liza Minelli. And TFP... oh, whole Bronze Age village preserved. Burial urns with 6-month old foetuses. Figuring out why there were only two bodies at the scene - turns out the bloke had arthritis due to being pretty elderly (40-50) for that time, and she'd been helping him. Ergh. Suffocation as a way to go. Not nice. Plus describing all the effecta on the weather that the ash would have - acid rain? Eep. But still, seeing a bunch of archaeologists trying to restrain themselves from squealing was brilliant.
