Have very little sleep the night before due to working til 11pm, then gat the 8:45 shift the next morning. Be tired but fairly normal during the morning and after lunch. Mid afternoon, rush up and down stairs a lot. Overheat. Feel dizzy. Grab onto bookcase to steady self. Go downstairs, serve a customer, still feeling a tad dizzy, then answer the phone from the stockroom. Put phone down and faint.

Stay on floor surrounded by concerned colleagues, as well as flustered supervisor, get taken upstairs to recuperate and get fed sugar and water. Insist am well, go back downstairs to serve after fifteen minutes, holding onto things just in case. First two customers require me to go upstairs and down again. Second one, go upstairs to cash office, look for someone who can open it, then lean against bookcase as feeling a bit dizzy. Slide down it involuntarily and sit for a few minutes with head between knees. Go downstairs, finish serving customer eventually (bloody phones/cheques) then feel a bit more dizzy. Start talking to supervisor about a problem with refunding with vouchers, (she kept asking if I was okay before, which I hate, as I always feel unbelievably embarrassed about fainting) then she stops and says "Heather, you're holding onto the wall to stop yourself from falling over. Go upstairs and sit in the staff room. Now." Go upstairs, sit for a couple of minutes, then get told to finish the safering in the stockroom and not come down or stand up if at all necessary until home time.

Gah. Hate fainting. And why do people always ask if it's a trend, even after you've confirmed it isn't? Christ, the last time I fainted was two years ago. And four years before that. Am glad it wasn't the pole-axe this time (all muscles and bones lock so you do a really impressive fall backwards without bending at a single joint - think Del Boy in the impressive fall in the pub scene), because pole-axes are severealy painful on the head, as it's the first thing that hits the floor, with considerable force. Collapses have a certain breaking speed.

Am also a tad pissed off. Many clothes shops in town. All of which stock a range of tops for christmas going out. And what happens? I only find two that suit me or which I like. And the better one in my size has a tear in it. :sigh:
