one question meme and the day
Dec. 28th, 2002 07:18 pmRight. Day first. Was last day at work - all the Christmas temps were either leaving today or tomorrow, as there's not enough money to keep any of us on, except for the ones originally hired on to replace leaving full-timers. Usual manic sales palaver. Bought various sales cds, including the dance of "Mine! It is mine, my precious, before any nasty thieving customerses gets their hands on it!" when I found the single copy of the 28 Days Later OST in the store, put out in the wee hours of the previous evening. Kept moaning at all the BOGOFs customers brought to the till. Did get rather nice compliment from Ryan yesterday when he told me the fact about my contract being renewed - many plaudits were accrued from day one about my excellent customer service :g:, and I have suspicions that I was the reason for the 100% mark from the mystery shopper - names are never mentioned, which means at least my references will look damn good. Still, no longer do I have my 25% discount off at Virgin. :grumble: On the other hand, no more temptation. Also spent goodly amount of time flirting with one of the guys at Coffee Republic - real name Marcus, now christened Candy due to his name badge today. Rather sweet. They all recognise me in there due to my hot chocolate addiction, to the extent of three of them (not counting John) who see me and don't even bother asking me what it is I want. Tomorrow or Monday we go to buy wigs for New Year.
The online name meme? Distressingly simple. I picked Gunbunny due to the very minor villain sidekick Gunbunny reinventing herself as Pistolera after her partner Gunhawk was shot dead. My comic geek friends and I got drunk down the pub and we all heralded Gunbunny as a far cooler name. Am now often told I suit the name, and it's the one I use on con badges. kabukivice, the one I'm usually associated with, was picked when I needed a name for my hotmail account. At the time I had an obsession with David Mack's comic Kabuki, which is rather pretty and spends a large amount of time navel-gazing and recycling itself. I refused to be kabuki123@hotmail.com, so a desperate cast around with mine eye revealed the Shanghai Vice OST next to my hand. (Fantastic docu-drama following four different cases within the vice unit of the Shanghai police on C4 a few years back) kabukivice was not taken as a username, and it never is on any server or site, so that's me and when the time came for writing sites and domains, kabukivice was the easy pick.
