Firefly

Watching the eps - loving Pam of versaphile.com more each day... :g: and if i loved it from just seeing two eps, I love it even more now I've seen about half the series. Also recorded it onto CD for [livejournal.com profile] megolas before she whines about it anymore... Also, interesting thought. Serenity (the pilot) works better *after* you've seen The Train Job. It's kind of long at the beginning. Maybe it's just me, being bred on UK shows, where we don't tend to have long pilot episodes, they just like hurling us in at the deep end. And I love all the characters unequivocally. Which is quite unusual, because I normally get a tad irritated with at least one character, or have favourites. Angel (before the screw up that was S3), I didn't like Angel as much as the others, and Gunn wasn't anywhere near my love for Cordy, Wes, Doyle and Lorne. Kate was just...blah. Buffy, I really disliked Willow. Just didn't interest me, and Xander and Buffy weren't anywhere near my love for Cordy, Snyder and Giles and Ethan. Angel wasn't even on the radar. Firefly is odd for a fantasy show in that it has the all-character love that I tend to only reserve for cop/adult shows like Queer as Folk (UK), The Shield and OZ - and those are special. Very very very special, being shows that hit me from the first episode, took my collar and said "You will watch this and worship it and you have no choice about it. The fandom makes no difference."

Also went on a cleaning jag. This occasionally happens. The last time it happened, the circumstances were identical. I'd been staring at a kitchen floor that had something on it, then decided 'Right! Sweep this floor and do the bathrooms! Also all the towels!'. I have no idea why this happens, but it does. Mum always thinks I'm very weird when I do this.

TV shows

tomorrow, I go see TTT with parents. In which I will attempt not to come out with any smutty, distracting comments... Must book tickets.

Specifically watched Taken, which is the new Steven Spielberg tv series, about alien abduction over three generations and how it affects three different families. I was only watching it because it's the new Julie Benz project (also hummed happily on finding Eric Close was in it - droooooooollllll). Starts in 1945, Julie's the small-town girl abductee #1 comes home and marries. And... it's boring. Really, really boring, especially her strand, where she doesn't get to do much except react a few times to what her post-traumatic-stressed hubbie is up to. Oh, and she'll normally be holding the baby. And get to do the worried/concerned look. She's so much more fun when she's evil. The military bit - not bad. Eric Close bit - I probably would've watched more as it looked interesting (plus eye candy of just a vest), but the rest of it just wasn't worth it, especially as I'd sat through the first hour and was practically asleep from boredom and 'bleh'ness. Probably really wasn't helped by the fact that it's so apple-pie American. Guaranteed to turn me off quicker than incomprehensible art films. Unless, of course, it's something like Smallville, where there is pretty and sexy and snarky and magnificent bastards. And slash by the bucketful.
