dolores is fucking evil. It started out as an innocent question on his side as to whether a Hogwarts/Ethan Rayne story had been done. And then he accused me of just wanting Giles in Slytherin so he'd be in my house. And the conversation veered to Sean Bean, as it does with us.... And now we're casting various characters into houses.

jogging again

I hate that I do this in fits and starts. Oh well. Went down the Lock way today, now the water's receded. Was limping by 15 as the bloody blisters decided to re-introduce themselves. They didn't do so when I was jogging up at the Cotswolds. Maybe it's a long flat beaten track thing... Still, did 23 mins by going as far as the first fence and then back. Walked up New Hill, because there is nothing on this earth that can force me to jog up New Hill. Steep as *fuck*. My legs just give out.

Daredevil review

Saw it. Quite different from other superhero stuff, because everyone's basically human, it's all dark and depressing, and there's no wonderful toys. Tis somewhat class that a few people mention throughout that being blind and vigilanteing is... somewhat crazy. Liked the realism, such as it was, though. Bleeding, having to take immense amounts of painkillers, being covered in scars, plus dealing with Matt Murdock's blindness very well, pointing out all the stuff he still has to do. And I love them! They dealt with the radar sense properly, rather than the vague 'oh, I can see the shapes of everything, doesn't matter' radar sense they have in comics. In the film they point out that you have to have something making a sound to get the bouncing-off effect, illustrated quite well in the subway, when he keeps hitting metal stuff to get the sonar to 'see' where the guy is. Also this vigilante? *No* problem with killing the guys who escape justice. Sticks them in front of trains, pushes them through church windows, that kind of thing.

Most of the characters well done, fight scenes good, some weren't developed anywhere near enough, and the prequel of his kiddyhood was pretty good. Could've done without the voiceovers, though. Obligatory Stan Lee cameo was silent and qucik, praise the lord. Oh, and I heart, heart, heart that Kevin Smith's cameo as the forensics guy was played as an utter comics geek - of *course* he'd be going 'cool' at Daredevil's weapon-cum-white stick. Though one thing most of the audience wouldn't notice is that Matt's dad's opponent at the prize-fight is John Romita, who's a big artist name in comics from the forties onwards, and his son, John Romita Jr, did Daredevil art duties for a long while. Then there was the list of names of people killed/working for the bad guys - Bendis and a few others, all of which are Daredevil writers. Not to mention one character named Joe Quesada. Know who this guy is? One-time Daredevil artist and current Editor in Chief of Marvel Comics. I may have been heard to moan 'oh, they *didn't*' in the cinema.

Overall.... pretty damn good, could've been better. And plausible set-up for a sequel.

In other news, am staring at wardrobe and going 'hmm, sod the Firefly outfit, is there an non-specific sci-fi gal I can go as? I have the tops....' And did the search for strapless swimming cozzies. No such luch. Not unless I want to shell out 50 quid for a designer one. Now I just have to find a strapless top. And get a slightly more cohesive 20s outfit.
