burntcopper: (grin says it all)
Present Laughter last night with Rik Mayall and others, the ode and licence to overacting. Absolutely fucking hysterical. All about an actor and his mates, and this is an overblown actor who overacts every second of every day. Packed house that couldn't stop laughing. Even in the bit where one of the actors completely and utterly corpsed. Couldn't for the life of him remember the next line, and it really didn't help that Rik Mayall started playing up the other bloke's corpsing for all he was worth, reducing the actors to giggles, and the audience to hysterics. During the first few minutes I thought it resembled The Young Ones way too much, but it's more than that. Much more than that. You just can't get better than a third act where the lead actor goes so over the top he ends up having a hysterical fit on the floor. Suspect the Noel Coward version would have been smoother and dryer, possibly more about the wit than the franticness, but my god it was magnificent.

Jogging today - 32 mins + 5 mins of New Hill and beyond. Calves decided to seize up early on. V. sunny today, and so am sticking washing out on the line. This evening shall be devoted to tv, tv and more tv. Comic Relief. There's going to be a Harry Potter spoof. :rubs hands evilly: Not to mention have to watch the repeat of Buffy that I missed last night due to going to Guildford - 1am, Buffy in a mental hospital where the whole Slayer thing's been a hallucination. Tomorrow will have to catch up with the sky ep - Andrew! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Fortunately is before babysitting, so it means I won't have to kill Claire and Rachel for talking during it.

Actually, it may even be a meme... On the subject of original fic.

Do you write original fic?
Yes

Does it take up more or less of your time than fanfic?
More

Short stories or big rambling ones that take months/years?
Big ass ramblers.

Name the three most current ones
Edwardian below stairs gayness, Exploring officers and Rifles, Napoleonic wars era (think Sharpe), Homicide detectives with powers (mutated off a long-running powers storyline)

Did you do Nanowrimo? (doesn't matter whether you finished)
Yeppers.

Do you go back to your stories and re-write 'em or leave them once they're done?
Re-write queen. There's a few stories I've re-written so many times that they bear little resemblance to the originals. For a start, they're far less cheesy.

Most common themes?
Historical, Military and British intelligence community with a touch of the weird.

Longest running fic from its first tentative imaginings?
British intelligence community with a touch of the weird.

Have been watching, have been a good girl and donated, and the Auf Wiedersehen Pet thing was fucking fantastic. Never put Geordies or Geordie-descent families in the same room as a tv showing Jimmy Nail. Hysterics and falling off the sofa with laughter usually ensues. That is all. The weekend - it's basically a toss-up between dyeing my hair and going to see Equilibrium. One will be done on Saturday, the other on Sunday, just don't know which day yet for which.
