40 minutes today of jogging - and the arches of the feet are going to be getting blisters again, probably. oh, joy.

Things to do : post last load of comics, do some cleaning, do another big sort-out of clothes hanging round room that were in the 'undecided' pile from last time, do washing, get more comics stuck on ebay, do some work.
burntcopper: (kill them all)
After having a highly frustrating time trying to find my school tie which I'd seen last time I was doing the clothes clear-out yesterday, (needed for school disco night at EoD) decided to do room clear-out and floor tidy. It is a stated fact that you will never be able to see more than 2ft's worth of my room's floor at any given time. I tend to use my floor as storage space. So, decided to attempt the impressive task of clearing floor space and all the plastic bags with things in that tend to silt up...

:cracks knuckles:

Things found : 15 silver hoop earrings, belts, scarves, the tie, first aid stuff and make-up.
Things chucked : receipts and clothes tags, packaging.
Things tidied away logically : dress-up stuff, belts, scarves, mountain of sweaters, pens, spare notebooks from muji
Things to send to oxfam : black t-shirts, pyjamas, pvc and leather trousers. (:pulls out violin: apologies, trousers, but you no longer fit)

Fandom-ing

Been reading people's posts on Smallville and Buffy, spoiler-whore that I am. And it occurs to me the problems with some shows.

Basically, there's some shows you sit there and go 'oooo', and happily lie back and bask. Sometimes bad or lazy, but these moments are few and far between. Or don't last that long. They take notice of their characters, keep 'em consistent or at least go with their arcs. Sometimes there's a bad part of a season, but overall you're happy.

Examples : Buffy, Angel, Farscape, Drop the Dead Donkey, Robin of Sherwood.

Then there's the kind of show which - well, you like the characters but they're continually being treated bad by the writers. You spend more of it wincing, complaining and desperately hoping for a ray of light than you do basking. And even part of the basking you're wincing at the dumb bits.

Example : Smallville.

This is my problem with Smallville. It has great bits, and I love the Clark/Lex, and Chloe, and Lionel, and Jonathan, and Martha... but christ, I hate the way the writers run roughshod over everyone to play with Lana and let her whine about her pain and issues. Who's not important to the storyline in any way whatsoever. She adds nothing to Clark's development like Lex does and we've been shown Chloe will. I spend half the show wanting to throw things at the screen. Christ, Casualty treats its characters better. The average Eastenders or Corrie ep does. Which makes me wonder why I'm suffering through this. The writers appear to have no concept of the fact that Clark would've been got by the police, fingerprints, evidence of destruction, you name it. At least on Buffy they made the point of everyone being used to the weirdness, putting blinkers on on *purpose*, and police cover-up. Smallville it's just plain lazy. And each week the irritation builds as I wait fo rthose precious moments or infrequent good eps.
