burntcopper: (just try it)
First, I would like to note that my feet hurt. Walking round town doing hardcore shopping for three hours followed by getting engrossed in magazine and going a few stops over on bus, which after you pass my stop means you've gone halfway to Pangbourne. Cue me walking a mile and a half back. In flip flops this equals pain and a blister. Got in house, dumped purchases, grabbed a drink and the chocolate bar I'd bought in town, changed to trainers and then went straight out the door again to get to the Cotswold sports centre to give blood to be able to get back in time for the Sentinel. Considering you normally spend about half an hour waiting around, ten minutes giving blood and another five eating biscuit and drinking something to make sure you don't faint, yours truly was cutting it a bit fine as got in the front door with two minutes to go. Am just glad that blood was flowing quickly this time.

Registered as a bone marrow donor as well. Read the literature on doing it, and it turns out that if you end up donating for someone, you've got to take a week off work to do it. 48 hours in the hospital after they stick the needle in your hip to syringe out the marrow sample and five days at home to recover. Okay, now the 'don't do anything strenuous for the next several hours' thing they have after taking the pint of blood seems like peanuts...

Sentinel. Slash is setting in. First, Blair was getting it on with latest date on sofa. Blair suddenly gets visual of murdered girl on the current case, which kind of puts him off kissing. Girl takes offence until Blair explains and apologises. Then Jim walks in. Girl goes into complete huff and leaves. Blair trying to make it up later gets the primary cause of Jim thrown in his face. Final moments of the ep, we have Blair jokingly talking about getting a CPD tattoo on his chest, and Jim goes 'What, to compliment the nipple ring?'. See Blair ask how the hell he knows he has a nipple ring, and then Jim banning him from getting a tattoo... Um, Jim, possessive tendencies and when did you notice?

Shopping tally :
Denim miniskirt (Bay Trading) - need another one in black or similar.
two pairs of hotpants (Pilot) - er, one in jersey fabric, one glittery denim. I have no resistance to hotpants and cute things in Pilot.
Lush has opened in Reading. See Heather be drawn like bee to honey. Luxury moisturisers and cleansing stuff at cheap prices with heavenly smells...
Light blue cropped combats (M & S)
White cropped trousers (Gap) - one of these will almost certainly be culled.

Looked at various trousers in M & S and whimpered. I waaaaaant the stuff in their limited edition range. Seriously. Gorgeous pearl-grey bootleg trousers, with matching jacket, but I've just spent 95 quid today, and these are not immediate needs. Hmm, maybe I can appeal to Mum that 'honestly, Heather needs smart suit'.

On the other hand, had completely forgotten my downfall when it comes to lightweight cropped trousers for summer. One, the need for me to get them from the petite range - clothes designers appear to believe that anyone of size 12 or 14 will be four inches taller than I am. Encountered several people looking for the petite version today. Two, pale skin. Pale skin means you can only wear certain shades of beige/tan/taupe/whatever they're calling it. The really pale versions they call stone, the one with a slight green tint that they love making cropped summer trousers out of? Make you look even paler, like death warmed over. Oddly, white doesn't have this effect. Just the beiges. Third, price - see me refuse to pay surf shop prices for cropped combats. Fourth, oddly enough, material. Found one pair that was the right colour, nice design, noted that it was proclaiming it was linen mix, tried them on, nice fit, two minutes later I was going 'Get 'em off! Get 'em off!' Itchy as *hell*.
