Well, got on train to Bracknell, which involved getting up earlier, and a freezing walk to the station. Got to Bracknell Jessops. Sue goes 'Oh, you're supposed to be at the Queen Vic.' I go '...okay.' Go back to Reading, go to Queen Vic, get told that they decided on Wednesday that it would make more sense for me to go to the Queen Vic rather than Bracknell, seeing as I live in Reading. Only, y'know what? Seeing as it was my day off they didn't bother to phone me.

Oh, and spent most of day banging head against wall due to arsey customers, one who had a tantrum because a product wasn't in (not that they'd even ordered it), another who had a tantrum because their card was taking ages to go through, and the credit card machine falling over.

This was, however, made all sweetness and light by two customers who came in with an insurance claim at 5pm, and after a quick check of what they wanted it for, size of pic, and cost, I pulled out three cameras. Bloke weighed them, turned them over a few times, and picked the Minolta Dimage XT. Got battery. He played with it for all of one minute while I served another customer, showed him how the zoom worked, and he gave it back to me and said 'we'll take it. What size card do you recommend?' I went 'errrr... are you sure you don't want me to show you anything like the menu?' Him : 'Nah, we can figure it out from the manual at home.' He was in serious danger of being hugged and squeezed and called George.

Heh. Once again someone has been seduced by the shininess and size of the Dimage XT. I've sold four on the basis of it being shiny. One bloke even bought it because it didn't ruin the line of his pocket. On Tuesday I even sold it to one woman by going 'Be shallow. Look at the shininess.'

And. Er. I've signed up for NaNoWriMo again. In the month when I have two conventions, one wedding in Edinburgh, and going to see Christina Aguilera in Manchester. I'm fucking insane. Had been thinking about doing my 28 Days Later/ancient Battle comics plague story with my MI7 cast for this year, but am currently pondering the Sharpe-Riley story I was batting around with [livejournal.com profile] twinkledruearlier this year, or possibly the sci-fi revolution one. Except the sci-fi revolution might be cheating, as I've written the majority of the core story of that, and I don't know how steam that one's got under it. Any ideas?

You know how a song gets played on the end of a tv show to heighten the poignancy/horror/etc, and if it's good, it'll get stuck in your head? Was humming the two chorus lines over and over today after the song was played on the last ep of The Shield, my baby of violent corrupt cop shows. Was one I vaguely knew, but otherwise... not something that you hear on the radio. Did a search on the lyrics, found out it was 'Overcome' by Live, and *then* discovered from comments on the searches that it was the nation's favourite 911 song in the US. Cue me going 'wheh?' Because I now associate it with pictures of Vic Mackey and the Strike Team getting away with the Armenian Money Train job, aftermath of Julian getting gay-bashed by fellow cops, Alvarez winning the preliminaries, and Danny trying to figure out what the fuck she's going to do with her life now she's no longer a cop.

Of course, Danny's going to get pulled back onto the force what with Julian's gay bashing and him being her partner come season 3, so I'm not too worried about that, but still, odd dichotomy of the uses of a song. And listening to the MP3 I've just dl'd.

ETA : The singer is such a fucking drama queen whilst singing this. Michael Bolton much? On The Shield, they just used the middle part...
