Costuming geekage.
Feb. 11th, 2004 10:55 pmWell, apart from having to go to Bracknell tomorrow. Such *joy*. Also had to be transferred to Queen Vic today for an hour due to bad scheduling of staff rota, and they only had new girl and Sue the bitch in while Christ went to lunch. (we have three Chris-es in Reading - Big Chris (now asst. manager at Queen Vic), Ickle Chris (still here) and Chris T, aka Christ, an adorable cycling dwarf of a man. They all used to work at Duke St, hence the names) Not actually serving a customer at tat moment, I was nominated. Went. Did bugger all, due to Queen Vic being as empty as a nun's knickers. Seriously. If I did more than 15 quid in that hour, I'll be amazed. There was no fucking point in me being there, whatsoever. Went back, told Keith of complete emptiness, he got a tad pissed off as it'd thrown our lunches out of whack, and he didn't get his til 5 in the end. Queen Vic and its scheduling problems and constant bleats of 'help! We need someone!' while we yell 'Fuck off, we only have four people here today, you have six!' Bracknell we don't mind, it's run on skeleton staff and when they need someone, they normally mean 'oh shit, we have one person and Lawrence-the-retarded on part time today'. We just hate Bracknell the town (read : first in the line to be flattened by bulldozers come the revolution for being a concrete and ring-road haven waste of space) and the positioning of the store. :deep breath:
Anyway. Have had ideas for costumes, two of which are the same basic skirt with different tops - one Gladiator Beyoncé style-ish, one Ancient Briton with lots of woad. Currently cutting out the pattern for Tink. The girl at Fabricland said 'I want to go to the parties you do, the costume ideas sound like way too much fun...' Also need to poke Andy to see how much a sword and shield would cost, as visited three toy shops today, none of which had decent straight swords. Pirate cutlasses and Ninja swords I do not need, unless I get round to doing a Movie-version Psylocke. Somehow I don't think Ninja-swords and cutlasses were used in 2nd-4th century Britain...
Does anyone know a decent place to find piccies of Keira in Guinevere leather war outfit? I need a few ideas for the Ancient Briton outfit.
