Feel free to spread this to mates. I'm looking for reviews of adaptations of books and plays, whether they be film, tv or play for my new site Adaptation. I want title, what the original source was, the year (location if it's a play, tv company/channel if it's tv), any major players (helps with identifying), a review, the setting of the piece if it's significantly different from that indicated by the original source material (remember to indicate the era it was written or originally set) and whether you think the adaptation worked. Also, any major differences should be pointed out. I also need names or pennames so I can give credit on the site. Coherency is appreciated, and reviews that go 'it sucked' will not be put up. Send 'em here or leave in comments. Except the comments might not be long enough if you have your rant on.

I want everything from Harry Potter to Phantom of the Opera (film or musical) to Throne of Blood and Ten Things I Hate About You. If it was based on a book or play it's eligible. Gimme!

The site is still being finished and the only one up there at the moment is one on a production of As You Like It, which is pretty much a guide to adaptations that fall flat on their face.

ETA : Personal reviews! I want your opinions as a fan who's read the source material and then seen the adaptation, because only then can I get the nit-picking!

http://www.livejournal.com/users/lazlet/157731.html - this? this is evil. Ukeleles at dawn! And so much better than the original. Why yes, I always did think Nirvana had bugger all talent and Cobain had his head up his own arse...

Also finished the [livejournal.com profile] timfinity fic. Thank god. That one was an utter *fucker*, really it was.
