Much Ado About Nothing
Nov. 8th, 2005 12:35 amBBC one are doing four Shakespeare plays, updated and adapted. Tonight was Much Ado, set in a local news station. Very entertaining, hysterical, great acting - Sarah Parrish and Damian Lewis make a fantastic Beatrice and Benedick as the two anchors, Billie Piper as Hero the weather girl. Lots of the original lines adapted, and there's even a bit where Benedick is reading one of the sonnets to Beatrice as she explains what it means, which plays wondefully.
Ending changed, because as the adaptor pointed out, faking your death in this day and age reads as a wee bit psychotic, not to mention there's no bloody way she's taking him back just like that. I like the ending more now. :g: But the bit where the rest of the cast are talking about Beatrice' supposed love sickness in full hearing of Benedick is fucking class. Him in the empty studio, them in the booth above so he hears it coming out of one of the sets of headphones - utterly hysterical and has one of the best pratfalls *ever*.
Oh god. Next week is Macbeth, starring Keeley Hawes. Pass my drool bucket and gag, because as anyone who knows me knows I tend to speak it along with the actors...
Nano appearing to go well. Unfortunately, plot will have to appear sometime soon. Send help.
Turns out bikini I bought over t'internet for Ursula Andress is damn near transparent. Will either have to cover another in white lycra or buy a bra and knickers.
Tomorrow night, Male Swan Lake with Taz. Go away, my drool bucket is at the ready.
