A for Andromeda
Mar. 27th, 2006 10:49 pmWatched with mum, who when we saw the ad post Christmas Invasion, went 'Must watch *nownownow*'. I though it looked vaguely interesting, so decided to watch too.
The basic story and morals - alien intelligence, playing god, military using amazing tech to build weapons, life form getting new appreciation for world - are very familiar. Sci-fi's been using the tropes for years, so none of that was a great surprise. (and no, not read the book or seen owt of the original tv series) Though that wasn't the point, and not why it was engaging. I'd classify it as more of a mood piece. The lights and the eerieness and the sheer quietosity of it were engaging. If it repeats at any time I'd recommend seeing it.
