England, that first half? You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

Things picked up second half, when they settled in, rather nice play by Rooney and Gerrard, Joe Cole slightly off his form, though Ashley picked up in his place, and I really didn't think I'd see more fouls than the Sweden game. Ecuador, stoppit with the hand balls, will you?

:pats Beckham on head: good boy, and it turns out threats by the missus *do* work. A classic free kick by mr. Backham there, but I do think Lennon should get more next time. You're clearly lagging.

Have spent entire day with mild headache and 'blech' fug, with large amounts of it dozing on the sofa. Meh.

my Given fic is sitting there mocking me and pointing out that it is resisting any attempts to advance one letter further, and has been like that for the past two weeks. I suspect it may need re-writing from the ground up. Dammit.

Does anyone still have that link to the post someone did on 'this fandom = this drug'? I feel the need to read it again, and giggle at the allusions. I think Stargate Atlantis was crack, Harry Potter was heroin, and BtVS was weed.

Reading yesterday and today's fic that was posted, and still trying to wrap head around the fact that Meg pointed out weeks ago. Supernatural is the fandom of incest as the first and preferred choice of pairing. It even beats out Twincest and Weasleycest from HP, because in HP, there are many other options and people for the Weasleys to shag, whereas in Supernatural, you have two main characters. Who continually get mistaken for boyfriends, by everyone from realtors to little kids watching the reception in motels. Point being made that they're so used to it that they just play up to it. So, yes, Wincest. But this is also the fandom of some of the most fantastic gen fic you've ever seen. Seriously. And a lot of the time it's written by the same writers. No, I don't get it either. It's just the way it is.
