Have been restraining urge for the past two hours to scream at top of lungs, quoting Strictly Ballroom : 'This stupid studio's a nightmare!'

Almost entirely due to the fact that we got a new starter in Liverpool a week and a half ago. Shell is nice, seemingly intelligent, etc, etc... but hasn't been able to get any work done because IT still haven't fixed her permissions so she can access parts of the workflow that she needs to do the simplest tasks.

Seriously. They've screwed up before with other new starters, but it only took a day to fix then. (yours truly took all of half an hour) This? Week and a half. We got a new person to alleviate our load, not sit around while Lissy got more headaches. Suffice it to say that our opinion of certain departments is pretty much at an all time low and has been sinking rapidly.

She's now having to log in as me as a temporary fix. :facepalm:

(oh, and said person is now avoiding me - did the speed walk past me when I was getting a breath of fresh air as he came back from lunch)

nhs vampirism finally achieved after nearly sixteen months of non-giving (tattoo then general flu/colds). The blood guy now has his bread and butter (it's how they described my blood type after I made a comment about having the most boring type).

Now I can throw out the accumulating reminders without guilt.

Oh, and whilst waiting at Reading station at 8pm, you will not believe what came through. An honest to god steam train. All tarted up with people with picnics inside, making an occasion of it. You saw people blinking as it went past the waiting room, then pulled in to let one of the drivers off, and then everyone vamoosed out of the waiting room and ran up the platform, phones held aloft to take pictures.
