Applied for a job. here's hoping that my years of experience in being a detail nut triumphs sufficiently over the rest of the job-hungry candidates who have experience in that industry to the point that I get an interview. though I don't hold out much hope for more than a courtesy letter of 'you reached the top 10, but we're only interviewing the top 5, keeping your details'.

Taz has been trying to destroy the world again. it's the equivalent of drunk-dialling. I tell her again and again, it's no good putting all that work in if you're going to hit the big red button when you're bored and the proper people aren't in place at their stations.

feck. never thought that a two recordings of a song by the same artist in exactly the same arrangement could be so different.

Seriously. the version of Johnny Cash's 'Ring of Fire' I'm used to that's on my mp3 player is the one from Live from San Quentin, and is pretty similar to the version Joaquin Phoenix sings in Walk on the Line. I'm totally willing to admit that my exposure to Johnny Cash is very limited - the first time I registered his music (I knew the name) was when he released 'Hurt'.

The version last.fm brings up is from some sort of Greatest Hits album and ...it's fucking awful. We're not talking the difference between studio over-processed and live. We're talking 'utterly shit and something went *wrong*'. If I'd heard this version first I'm pretty sure I'd dismiss it as a crap song.

The Wire? Not available on iplayer. mininova's turning up nowt but german and spanish dubs for s1. Anyone got a link? I missed most of last night's ep, (aka the one where Omar's boyfriend turns up dead and tortured) and how the fuck are the beeb expecting anyone to keep up with five nights a week?

I suspect conspiracy with the dvd sellers. 'Hey, you missed an ep? The dvds are out on sale.'
