Fuckses.

Robert Addie just died last week from lung cancer, apparently only diagnosed a few weeks ago. One of my absolute fave actors, and one of the first blokes I had a crush on. For those who're going 'who?', Robert played Guy of Gisburne in Robin of Sherwood, as well as a fair few other things, but he's mostly famous for playing an utter bastard as Guy and enjoying himself too much in it, like the rest of the cast. In real life he was fantastic, fond of a dirty joke, taking the piss, very funny, sexy as hell even though he'd stopped being a pretty boy, and was basically... argh. Dunno how to say any more, besides a couple of recollections from Silver Arrow in May.

(on one of the cast making a joke about Fury being made into dogmeat), a bellow from across the room "That's my horse you're talking about!"

"Us real actors don't need microphones, we've mastered this thing called projection."

The amazed double take and once-up-and-down I got from him when he turned round and saw my Cabaret outfit, insisting on taking a picture. Well, I was wearing a very small amount for an RoS convention, where normal dress is ankles to neck.

The 'oh god' when someone unearthed the picture of him on the polo team at 17. Followed by, later in the evening, the wince when he asked what the hell our table was giggling about and we stuttered 'chainmail underwear'. Considering the chainmail on RoS was made of knotted string, that shrunk when wet - we'd already got a story out of him about that - shrinkage on that area would not be appreciated.

Fuckses. he'll be missed greatly.

Well that sucks the big one! :(

Well, damn. That's so sad to hear. His Gisburne (especially perhaps the interaction with Nickolas Grace's Sheriff) was fucking brilliant. He could get worked up into a furious rage so quickly, or look sullen and hurt... He will be missed.

I also discovered he was a PDA geek when I traced my missing PocketPC to the table I'd had breakfast at, now occupied by Robert Addie. After retrieiving it from the floor, I apologised for the disturbance and he replied "Not at all, I'm very glad you found it. I'd be lost without mine" and then produced his Handspring Visor!

My sister was also quite taken with him when she saw him on my RoS videos and rather disappointed Gisburne never reformed!

Nothing much else I can think of to say except "Bloody nice bloke" and he will be missed.

Oh no! That's just really sad and I share the 'Fuckses'. He sounded a very cool guy from your tales.

Ah no. That's so sad. He was such a marvellous villain in RoS (Guy and the Sheriff? Soinlove!).

(Guy and the Sheriff? Soinlove!)

:cough: Nup. Got the truth out of Nick Gracs and Robert. Masochistic relationship, hate each others' guts, but hey, you've got to get sex *somewhere*...

:g: The cheers that elicited from the fans when they said this were terribly amusing.

Have you seen the episode where the Even Eviller Sheriff throws the Sheriff out because he's called the EES a catamite? And then the EES comes on to Guy? Hee!
