That's it. First chance I can I'm getting out of this job. Not only is it of the suck and has been getting more so (I'm seriously beginning to hate sales with a passion, specifically the type where you're pushing stuff on people and you have a daily target), but the new manager is a prick and will continue to be so.

You know how a new manager is godawful the first week, then settles down as he gets more confident about the job? This one has gotten worse. He's become more of a control freak, more 'oh you must hear my plans, I want to lecture you all', more simpering towards customers, more passive-aggressive, blames poor sales on our selling techniques and not the fricking lack of customers this week (I'm serious - we only just did 800 quid by 4pm, which is scary. Apparently it's like this across the whole company from convos I've had today with helpdesk and other stores), and apparently you're not allowed to be negative in any way, because negativity won't help your state of mind or sales. Not to mention psychobabble about selling, and that glazing over he gets when anyone ever tries to make a point, and 'oh, don't interrupt me under any circumstances'. Plus? He repeats himself the whole fucking time in the same speech. I can barely take it from my mother, and this bloke is worse. When you're spending every minute around him biting your tongue to make sure you're not yelling at the wanker, you know it's bad. Christ, I do that around the team leader who most of us want to strangle but I can tune her out.

Fireman walked in today and I quizzed him about job stuff - looketh interesting, there's an open day in a month or so. Also need to put CV in at Blackwells. (yep, it may be sales but it's books. mmmmmm.) And ask GCHQ how you take the test.

Wow. Not much I can think of to say other than that you have my sympathies. I've been remarkably fortunate in that I've largely got to work with and for great people.

The MD at my first job is probably one major exception but then, if not for him, I might never have been motivated to go do my MBA.
