smear test went fine. They have replaced the giant metal thing that looks like a torture device with long thin thermometer-like things which amazingly go in really bloody easily. Thank the FSM for common sense.
Spent rest of day working from home. Which, before the smear test, involved half an hour of installing a new client program to connect to work. But once installed and re-booted, link was secure, fast, and easy to log into. Boring, a bit sleepy, the usual slow loading of pdfs, and... my boss sending me an email asking if he could filch the banana on my desk since he'd missed lunch. I poined out that he was taking his chances since it'd been green yesterday. Not sure why he couldn't just cross the road and go to the sandwich shops opposite.
Saw Trek last night.
I may be forced to become a Trek fan. Seriously, the most I did was watch the occasional ep as a kid, no real interest because it was plodding and moralising and so on.
Went with buncha girls and Abdul from work. Spent it either laughing or going 'ooooo'. Very little dead zone - maybe a few seconds if it involved the Vulcan Council or Nimoy. Everyone is awesome. Though McCoy and Scotty may have the edge, even if Kirk is having too much fun being a brat, Uhura is clearly wanting to kill him and Spock is able to do utterly perfect asides, quirks of mouth and eyebrow. i just... me and Lissy made heart symbols and happy sighs during *so many* Scotty and McCoy bits. Though I pointed out that I get to be Scotty and she gets to be the little alien since she's the only one shorter than me. The one-liners. Oh god, the one-liners. Spock telling Kirk to get out of the chair as Pine does a perfect Shatner lean. All of Scotty's. Scotty askign for a towel. 'I may throw up on you'. McCoy casually dosing Kirk and the allergic reaction. And Kirk being resigned to the dosing. One wonders how many times Bones did this to him during Academy. Oooo, forgot the 'aren't they adorable' of Chekov and Sulu.
...and yeah, i may just be shipping McCoy/Kirk a bit. Just a smidgen.
