Saturday, slash and Something for Kate

So, picked up megolas from Kings Cross, met up with dolores and rozkaveney to discuss slash, eat and be silly. We have pimped Fenndom and daegaer as the main proponent of this at them. Later, Forbidden Planet, where Megs checked my temperature for not buying anything. Lightning-quick check of National Portrait Gallery (closes early on weekends, grr).

Then Something For Kate at Mean Fiddler. Many Australians in crowd. Good band, Lucky Jim for support, also good. Sort of rock/grungeish. Pretty female bass player, 6'4 lead singer, (also pretty in the Eric Bana mould) and a drummer who hits harder than yo've ever seen. Broke drumstick 2 songs in. I have said drumstick. Meg is sulking because I'm keeping it from her. Less said about Thames trains on way back the better.

i've never been a there's something for kate fan. in fact, i kind of dislike them. however, you know, i had this moment of culture confusion, where i was thinking, hey, fuck, heather is in sydney out at the mean fiddler? then heading into kings cross?
