in case anyone is interested - being a tester, as you can see, pays crap. you also tend to work long hours, doing the same thing over and over again.
from experience you tend not to get listened to, which is frustrating. but it's like that for about 98% of people in the games industry so i wouldn't worry about it. ;)
but - you get to mean and work alongside some really great games people (depending on who you're working for) and it can still be a way into the industry - Esp. design, even though companies are pushing for more professional testers (though obviously if you pay peanuts you get games obsessed monkeys...)
