bored *again*. also, icon meme and recs.

Yes. bored. should be variously going to waitrose, applying for jobs, and making the saffron skirt. Oh well, at least I'm getting the laundry done.

I love looking at people's icons, but I don't always *get* them - I often wonder stuff like, "Who's that guy?" or "Where's that quote from?" but I tend not to ask, for various reasons. So come on, here are my icons. Pick one (or more!) you're curious about, and I'll try to explain it. Or at least explain what I like about it.

two Black Books crossover recs, because Bernard is terrible...

http://www.livejournal.com/users/copperbadge/656954.html#cutid1 - crossover with HP by Sam.

http://www.livejournal.com/users/villainny/314938.html?#cutid1 - The Good Omens one. merely revel in this, it's fucking perfect.

What's the 'weighed' one about?

[identity profile] burntcopper.livejournal.com 2005-03-03 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It's from A Knight's Tale - basically that scene replicated as an icon. The group (one blacksmith, two sidekicks, one Chaucer - also see the Literary genius icon - and a squire masquerading as a knight) lean over the evil knight who's been knocked off his horse and repeat his previous threat back at him, one line per person. 'Welcome to the new world' is a response to 'In what world could you ever beat me?' If you haven't seen it, you need to.

What's the 'door' one?
I kinda recognise it, but can't quite place it...

That would be Door from Neverwhere. Laura Fraser, crush of very long standing.

Neverwhere - why does that sound familiar??

The French. Why are we waving in their general direction?

Sharpe quote on a Sharpe icon. Though admittedly they're looking at a map, planning a skirmish when he says this. I made it due to it being one of my fave quotes from the series, and worked rather well when I wanted an icon for the journal I use for NanoWrimo. That year I was doing Sharpe/BtVS-Angel fanfic for it.
