post-election
May. 6th, 2005 10:02 amWell, Martin Salter held onto Reading West - it's fucking scary to look at the map of South East England, our side - and see this mass of blue, with only Reading West and Slough in our area being these tiny pinpoints of red. Looks like the Home Counties are doing their traditional hidebound Tory ways, though interestingly, the map hasn't changed much since last election. Bollocks. Still, I am doing a little dance of joy over the Lib Dems' gain across country, not to mention Falmouth (which I was really bloody surprised to find is a swing seat) has gone yellow like the rest of Cornwall, though it seems St Ives' votes aren't in yet)
Looking at the map as a whole is always a tad weird, but tells you a lot about concentration of voters/population distribution. People in cities and v. large towns vote Labour. Countryside tends to vote Conservative, especially rich countryside. Lib Dems get interesting results, though they've got their mainstays.
Am ... hmm. Not exactly displeased, not exactly pleased. I knew Lib Dems weren;t going to get in, but they've increased their margin, and Labour have lost their massive margin, and the percentage of bolshie MPs on Labour's side have increased. And the Undead didn't get in.
