Have material for Green Fairy. Now need to make the fucker, get wings and contacts (what am I bloody thinking, I've never even worn glasses...). Barbie, it turns out on looking at the collectors' sites, you can dress up as anything and it's a Barbie outfit. Lounge Kitty is one I think nearly everyone I know in my set can do with only minimal addition of fur.

Went to see Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat, which is definitely a departure from the musicals I've been seeing recently. For a start, there's practically no adult nods whatsoever except for the great big blaring neon sign that Joseph is GAYGAYGAY. Seriously. From the moment that kid puts on the slave kilt, his inner queen comes out. Still remember a line from the review when Stephen Gately (out member of Boyzone) took the role, where they commented on how the Potiphar's wife scene took on an added dimension because you knew Stephen didn't like girls. Honey, if it was the same production I saw, Joseph is bloody scared of anything female who comes onto him and would rather be shagging those nice guards standing around the place.

It's also quite - hmm, how do I put this? Unpolished in its staging and manner. Mostly because it's got a very kid feel, plus innocence, helped by the kiddy choir and the narrator, who I hadn't remembered sings a large proportion of the songs. Lot of fun, though it does feel a bit rushed. Probably because there's no speech between songs.

The brothers were really, really fabulous - most playing standout bits in other songs or roles, with lots of dancing. Special mention to the inflatable sheep who spring up from the stage. Pharoah as Elvis - well, there is no beating the king. Especially when you're sitting there counting off his moves. 'Lessee, we haven’t had the arm circling thing yet... There it is!' A very good Elvis impersonation indeed, along with guards as football players and the cheerleader who wouldn’t let go of his leg. Speaking of that, I'm still amazed at how many styles they get in. The major songs are torches and ballads and so on, but you always forget the French number and the calypso. Am still most impressed that Joseph basically turns into a gold David Bowie, one version being very much a Ziggy. (the golden chariot Joseph meets his dad in is a massive gold-sprayed Harley) That and him getting three different multicoloured trains to add to his gold coat at the end bit, where they re-sing most of the songs.

Verdict - highly enjoyable, but no depth whatsoever. Fun fluff with added gold spangles. (there's a set of gold-striped robes that come out for Jacob's family just for one song of the re-cap at the end so they can take their bows in them.)
