Interesting. I did a photography degree as well but mine seemed much more structured then yours was (not saying that's as good/bad thing). We had to get an art history minor to go with our degree so I was stuck in mind numbing lectures for six hours a week. My upper year photography class was also all lectures and we did our work in labs. Then we had the two scary seminar classes (Art in the real world and Michelangelo: The man and the art).

So I can still somewhat related to these school!fics but only on a superficial level. My labs where fun. My lecturers allowed us to bring booze to class. My disseration appointments? They happened in pubs, when I happened to bump into my advisor (or once, rather famously, in the womens washroom...he being a he).

I never had to get up early though since the lower level students had full use of the lab until 1 pm. My final project was completely entirely between the hours of 10:30 pm and 5:00 am however.
