First, I didn't go to Expo. Got most of the way to the tube and suddenly went 'hang on, what am I *doing*? You don't enjoy them for too long, you spend most of it being puzzled, and that's about it. Getting sketches would be nice, but...'

The 'but' got me. Decided to continue on my way to Tottenham Court Road and the computer shops there*. Poked around shops, found the one I wanted, they had it in stock at the Sony shop, bought that and a network cable, and I now have a Vaio charging over there on my bed. Slightly scared of it, actually, and not sure whether I can bring myself to touch it, let alone start going through the arduous whatsit of moving all my files over and installing programs.

*Still makes me go 'oh-kaaaay' that London keeps things in specialist areas. Tottenham court road houses computer/hi-fi shops and the furniture shops, charing cross does books... do other cities do this? You'd think it would be more to their advantage to be spread out rather than have the competition so close by. Clothes shops congregate in town centers, but they don't specifically congregate on one street.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] jamjar has made my nano story Welsh. Damn her. Discussing Dandini, and she went 'Ianto!' and then when Ellie came up, it was a case of 'argh. It's Gwen, isn't it...' Gwen may be negotiable, but Ianto's gone and lodged himself in my brain. Now have to keep reminding myself that no, I can't set up the Cinders situation in the 1920s/30s. The marrying off the daughters situation wasn't that desperate, and also, no smiths. :kicks any bunnies that say 'oh yoo-hoo, mechanic!': Not to mention the royalty wasn't as big a catch-type thing.

[livejournal.com profile] dolores, on the other hand, as producer of bunnies that will *never* get finished, is busily snickering with me over the rather easy link that Toshiko in Torchwood is just the grown-up version of Sarah on Ab Fab. Having grown out of the godawful clothing, gained self-confidence, tech usage, etc. I pointed out that it's fairly obvious Saffy and Sarah went to a girls' public school. Toshiko landed the Sarah nickname early on - if you're named Sarah, you tend to end up with a nickname like 'Tosh' at those places, so logic dictates Toshiko got 'Sarah'. And so, many years later, Toshiko and Saffy meet up... (Saffy, of course, still earnest, a bit sad, etc) and the rest of Torchwood are pretty much collapsed in laughter over the photos.

ACK!

These store owners still believe in synergy. Actually, these days, with online shopping being the biggest competitor for stores, it might work again.
