well, up to 25,341 on the novel as of last night - hadn't written owt on friday, then forced self to write 4,000 yesterday.

being lazy. Flatmate is making pumpkin curry, so flat smells effing gorgeous. Watched Cenotaph thingy on tv. Maybe I should go down there one rememberance sunday, since the silence would be interesting. This being the first year I haven't worn a poppy since I was little, due to not seeing a single place to buy one except waitrose when visited Reading, and had nowhere to pin it, though stuck a bit of money in. (suede and leather? v. difficult to get pins into) Had historical knitting discussion on [livejournal.com profile] robinhoodbbc due to Marian's Primark cardie at the end. The BBC series now has its token Arab Merry Man. (this one is female and an ex-slave who decided to stay. She has so far shown no fighting skills, but she is snarky and hard as nails and likes sharpening her knife.) Richard Carpenter, this part of the legend is ALL YOUR FAULT. We love you for it. And Will/Alan is gaining popularity. Partly because they're so damn pretty. Robin is very pretty, Much is completely and utterly gay, but we all know Much would kill any of the Merry Men who tried it on with Robin.

Poked the poppy stuff on the BBC - someone needs to smack down the white poppy lot with 'blood is wrong and unchristian!' er, no, it's red because it's a fricking poppy. And it's not in support of war, it's in support of those left behind and those injured. Also, your white poppies are made commercially. And Huh. The poppy thing started in America. Does anyone know when it died out there? I mean, the British Legion practically adopted it as their standard, and we get the adverts each year, many of which make you go 'eeep'.

Further note to the Cenotaph thing : Does anyone else get uncomfortable about seeing the leaders of the political parties laying wreaths? I have no problem with the Prime Minister and whoever's got the Foriegn Office job doing it, since they're sort of there representing the civilian parts of the nation. It's just the others. You're not actually representing owt, since it's not like political parties in this country are affiliated to war stuff, (at least not since we chopped a monarch's head off) and you certainly don't hear them going on about supporting those left behind or injured. The only person I ever felt comfortable seeing there was Paddy Ashdown, and that was because he's an ex-marine. Okay, and the bloke from Clywd Cymru, because he's representing Wales. Rev. Paisley has always made me flinch.

My plans today are to write. And write some more. Possibly to watch an episode of something. No idea when I'm going to find time to watch all this tv i'm dling, (and yes, [livejournal.com profile] wiccachik, I've started dling Dexter), since I was behind on my BSG and SG-1 as it was. Also still haven't finished Entourage, and pre-November I was mainlining Jeeves and Wooster ([livejournal.com profile] indeedsir is having a posting fest of WWI poetry today, one user came up and went 'what the shit is this?', and she was smacked down. Hard. I love my terribly polite fandom.)
