Sith fashion : a serious business. Aloha!

burntcopperLooking online for hawaiian fabric for Sith robe. (those of you who know of the chefs... well, blame Kurgan for this off-shoot) Slightly scared by several of the designs on display in the hawaiian stores. Anyone know what shipping prices are like from there? Because with the current exchange rate and $5.50 a metre...
Also, question : how garish should one go? I tend toward the blue shades (my master wears dolphin print) but my god, there's some stunners out there. It only *starts* with the hibiscus. Plus, rest of the outfit so far consists of a turquoise bikini and a pink lei. Should one add a grass skirt or other accoutrements?
After pottering in Foyles craft section with Jen and Meg last night (many shelves of books on knitting/crochet. Many many shelves on fashion. One and a bit on making clothes with actual cloth. Rather than seeing this as an indictment on how many people knit vs. use cloth, I think it's more that the seamstress lot don't bother with books due to sewing culture being dominated by adapting patterns - Simplicity and Vogue have been doing very nicely for near-on a hundred years), came across a book with some interesting ideas for how to transform godawful clothing into decent - shirts to skirts, how to make an oversized t-shirt into something that fits etc. Which reminds me that I really have to attack that blue skirt I've always been a bit dissatisfied with. Hack the waistband off, make it low-rise, decorate in some form.
Still the ebay pile hanging over me. I need to get rid of it. just don't seem to get round to it. Leather trousers and jeans that no longer fit and Sin City graphic novels.
