Torchwood : Adam

Overall, decent ep. Just certain bits that needed to be cut for the good of our facepalming.

Owen as geek was great and I'd almost say adorable.

Tosh, your boobies and legs are awesome and we're very happy to see you use them when you're being fabulously confident. Also, wondrous bitchy put-downs.

Ianto : diary! First person to notice! Also, um, you as serial killer is... disturbingly good.

Rhys : we must hug you and squeeze you and love you. You + Gwen are just awesome with lots of chemistry and you rant so well. Writers, stop doing the Gwen/Jack thing because Gwen/Rhys is just so much more awesome.

Gwen : Eve, that lost and scared and channeling said stuff into anger = very good. and then later getting your memory back was just...aww. And you and Jack are awesome as friends and the 2ic relationship is great, but no chemistry. NONE.

Jack : oh god. JB, please stop doing stage acting in your big emotional scenes. We're wiping all those childhood memories due to their sheer crapness and the way it *didn't work*. All your quiet stuff with Ianto and refusal to believe he was a serial killer, and then later stuff being the hard bastard with Adam down in the cells was for the win, though.

end : awwwww, flowers. And hee to when everyone was going 'er, wtf?' and Owen strenuously denying he would *ever* send anyone flowers but at the same time being secretly pleased for Tosh. Also, rather liking that some don't necessarily *want* to take the retcon - Owen and Tosh being primary, Ianto's all too eager, understandably, but they all understand the necessity and take it *anyway*.

...MEASURING TAPE. Torchwood : in ur brain, corrupting innocent items.

I agree with all of this!

Bizarrely, the only character that had me going "WTF?" to was Jack... I loved Gwen and Rhys (it tooks it's time, but they're so great together, and Rhys is so lovable!), I hope they don't spoil it with Jack/Gwen, as that would make me cry :(

I secretly want Owen to find someone to stop him being such a hard bastards. At least Tosh gets some, even if they are all defrosted soldiers or aliens!

Ummm.... am I alone in feeling that this ep.was just a straight rip-off of BtVS? Not only did we get an "inserted memory-poggled-with" character *cough*Dawn*cough*; but also he was called Adam - just like that evil!bionic guy.

That said - the Jack/Ianto thang was tear-jerkingly good. Jack's memories - as above - very Blah.

oh no. there's been a lot of comparison of this ep with 'Superstar' on [livejournal.com profile] torch_wood. One person even went through it even more and pointed out how it was actual Gary Stu fanfic, not just self-insertion, right down to demonising some characters (Ianto) for plot purposes or because he didn't love them, marginalising and shallowing others (Gwen) because he forgot about 'em, along with the usual getting it on with the character he fancies, being the confidante of the main character whilst at the same time denigrating the main character's skills and awesomeness so that main character looks to *him* and so on. And then they forget about him once he's out of the picture. Gary Stu indeed.
