doing the 'Peter Jackson is God' dance
Apr. 5th, 2002 01:52 amHave seen Two Towers Trailer. Officially want Peter Jackson's babies, just for the way he puts together trailers... :sigh:
And Eowyn. Oh my. Eowyn. I heart Eowyn. So very much. Eowyn is not Arwen, not a Mary Sue, and kicks booty. Also does the pining thing, the 'get off me, slime' thing, and eventually marries Faramir. I'm seeing a new role model for little girls. :counts off: So that's Miss Piggy, Sigourney Weaver, Wednesday Addams and Eowyn.
Faramir/Eowyn is a wondrous, beautiful thing among het/canon couples. Meeting of minds, equals, etc, etc, plus it's got that thing of him adoring her for ages and she finally comes to her senses and realises Aragorn is only ever going to have eyes for Arwen. Heather proceeds to stick fingers down throat after mentioning Arwen Sometimes I wish Aragorn had gone for Eowyn rather than Arwen but then Eowyn wouldn't go for Faramir.... and Faramir/Eowyn is a lovely, wonderful thing. I think the E/A thing was mostly the general 'dammit, I want the hero projection' thing, and since I adored Eowyn and thought Arwen was a nancy... you can see where I'm going.
Will someone tell me what the single-photo shots of the Mary-Sue like one were for during the trailer? They seemed to serve no purpose whatsoever, unlike Legolas, which was purely to satisfy the female viewing audience :g: (PJ knows his audience, all right...) Battle scenes! :bounce: Battle scenes!
Wormtongue... eyergh. Perfect. Unbelievably creepsome, just like he should be. Meg and I have agreed that Wormtongue also has that anti-hero worshipping/slimey adoration of Saruman going on, part of why he snaps at the end. Ickety but true to Tolkien.
But last and definitely not least : "It's ours and we wants it back! Nasssty thieving hobbitses." :does the dance of the Gollum fan, which I believe everyone is. Damn near everyone does 'My Precious' imitations in the cinema:
My own. My love. My own. My love. My Preciousssssssss....
