Lots of blather. Hmm, we're going for emotional this week... With added massive build-up VTs. Plus tears. And emotional stuff.

01 - Jodie - Son of a Preacher Man. hee. one for her strengths. Not much emotional variation in the song, though, so let's see the panel. Good performance from her.

Cameron - convinced, always takes the criticism well, deserves to be here. John - always lives the song, looks forward to the day he can be opposite her. ALW - outsize talent, really strong voice, don't know if it's quite enough, but not sure. (and yes, audience booed him for this)

02 - Samantha - Anyone who had a heart. (once again, great dress) Nice vocal, bit doll like in the expressions in the first half, getting better in the second. And look, she got the most emotional variation in lyrics.

Denise - definite voice of Nancy, most incredible journey, developed most. Sometimes sit on emotional fence a bit, but sure if worked with good director could bring out. Barry - v. mature talent - can sing, act, dance, reasonably attractive, west end needs her. ALW - definitely could be Nancy. Whole question is whether could absorb direction and stamina to do 8 shows a week.

03 - Jessie - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - (horrible dress, what creating audience bias?) oh dear lord, already into the emotional vacuum, but at least they're making her sit down. Nice vocal, but a complete one note performance with no variation in the actual song.

John -captivated. really good performance, worried about consistency, would worry about not hitting home runs every evening. Cameron - was born to play Nancy, thinks it's about material, not delivery. ALW - Never thought he'd sit in a chair and agree entirely with Cameron. Wonderful star quality, thinks if gets training, make a great Nancy. John had a bit of a 'yes but not now', and ALW doing the 'got six months!' comeback.

Now, Nancy + Oliver performances.

Lawrence + Jodie - Getting to Know You - very bouncy, act well together. Defintie cutesy crowd pleaser with good tones of mum/governess + charge.

Harry + Sam - Singing in the Rain - cute again, very friends-a-like.

Gwion + Jessie - Truly Scrumptious. Welsh accent is back in force. She's not interacting as well as the other two do. Cute if a little toothachey which may be just due to the song. Much less choreography than the others.

Cameron and ALW thought Gwion + Jessie stood out the most. ALW also liked Jodie.

Ooo, masterclass with Liza Minelli. Nice classes, though it's interesting that they showed her giving the least direction to Jodie.

Trio - Maybe this Time - Good on all of their ranges, but probably in the best comfort zone for Jodie and Jessie for type of song. Jodie's out-powering the other two. Jodie and Jessie came off best for this - slightly different takes, but really brilliant from the two. Hmm. Jessie could probably do a good Sally Bowles - the awkwardness would come off well in just how messed up Sally is and in the ciurrent production she doesn't do much dancing.

Lee Mead doing Any Dream. :sigh: Oh, I'd forgotten that boy's stage presence. Much more measured and controlled performance now. Note to self : go see. Lee likes Jodie best.

More VT, this time wih added family. oh. YAY. At least it's short.

Jessie's through. As is Jodie. Sam's out. DAMMIT. Hmm, let's see Cameron and ALW snap her up for another role in about, ooo, two seconds?

Sam gives a good performance of As Long as He Needs Me. Good one to go out on for casting, at least.
