:pokes thighs: I hate you. Just so you know.

Jogging has resulted in me having muscled legs and apparently no cellulite. Sadly, this does not seem to translate to the bulges of fat I have on the top outside of thighs, even with the so-called 'sculpting for bikini' exercises I filched out of Zest magazine. dammit.

Decided to add a bit of punching on parts of the route after experimenting in doable-ness today. All in the name of having *some* back muscle in time for Discworld '08. (remember, other people get in shape for holidays and so on. I attempt it for conventions) Because, well, Conina.

also want a bit of flexibility, so hello some of the old boxing stretching exercises...

It's so embarrassingly girlish of me, but now I'm curious what these sculpting techniques are...

i keep misreading the word jogging. i'm not quite sure what it is i'm seeing instead, but i think it's somewhere between juggling and jiggling.

my eyes are so tired.

(understand that I have no idea if they're working, but I'm working on the principle that any flexing of muscles I don't use normally is good) - you're supposed to do them once a day, it takes about three minutes.

ten of these : demi-plie with feet shoulder width apart. (think of it like sliding down a wall) arms out to the side each time level with your shoulders - imagine you're doing ballet.

ten per leg, alternate legs : legs shoulder width apart, bring knee up to waist level across the body, and punch in the opposite direction with the opposite arm. (left leg, right arm)

ten per leg, alternate legs : hamstring pulls (foot up to the arse), keeping up a nice bounce as you do it, doing bicep curls as you do it.

Arm bits apparently made better by holding small bottles of water or tins of soup.

The single most useful exercise I use is something called the plank. Have you encountered it? Basically you get down on your toes and elbows, belly facing the floor, and you keep yourself off the ground as straight as you can. All three layers of your abdominal muscles have to work when you're in the pose, so though it looks dead simple, it starts to hurt surprisingly fast. Another great thing is that it's cumulative, too, so if you do a minute here and a minute there, it adds up to being the same as it would be if you did three minutes in a stretch.
