Finally have a coherent Much/Little John bunny and plot that doesn't entirely bloody well echo the whole beginning chapter of the Robin of Sherwood novel adaptation of the first arc of the third series (aka the debut of Robert, Jason Connery - the blonde Robin. Shut up. I like him.) The novels are surprisingly good, mostly because they're either written or co-written by Richard Carpenter, who wrote the series.
Anyway. Much and Little John have always been crying out to be slashed, which everyone agrees on, but it's just difficult to do. Writing a Much/Little John first time would just be ... painful. Maybe when I've written them some more, but it's the whole fact that Much is just so simple, even though he gets a bit more worldly wise as the show goes on, especially after Robin dies, and Little John is so protective.
It's not like the slightly teasing relationship that Buck and JD had on the Magnificent Seven, where JD was at least slightly aware of his sexuality, and Buck... well, most of us who watched Magnificent Seven are of the opinion that Buck would shag anything and if he didn't used to have a relationship in the past with Chris, we'd be a monkey's uncle.
Anyway. Writing them during the point when they're being anonymous shepherds after Robin's died but before Robert comes to find them, and I bloody well have to write it as an established relationship, one where it's more like comforting sweater than the possible explosive relationship that Will and Robin could have. (worships the Sigrina) Harder, slightly more bitter Much, and John just tired. Worn down, without the spark that the Hooded Man that was Robin and will be Robert provided.
Am also mightily pissed off with the design of Ink Under the Skin. Icky. Must find tattoo photos of decency and think up a better design. But not having bloody great banner that takes up half the top of the page this time. Hum. Mebbe pics of boxers' tattoos... :goes into musing state:
