fannish stuff

Today, and yesterday, I have been sorting out fannish stuff.

Or rather, I've got utterly nothing done beyond watching Chuck 2x01, Merlin 1x03, tormenting [livejournal.com profile] bedlamsbard by enabling her narnia bunnies, and sorting out more Merlin fandom stuff.

Specifically, creating the lj guide for the merlin fandom @ [livejournal.com profile] merlin_ljguide because the archivist/ocd cataloguer in me got there before my brain did. no, seriously, that's what, 6 communities I've created out of pre-emptive 'fandom will need them, and I don't want the effort of looking for them/screaming 'my eyes! my eyes!' every time I go visit the overly-graphic'd/cutesy speak /introductory post-laden version someone else will have set up'. Thank christ I don't plan on the OTW or fanlore scale.

And I can't get that sticky post thing to work, where one entry stays at the top. Bollocks.

But Chuck? Sheer bliss and fangasm. (Sarah vs. Wienerlicious outfit = thankyou, oh gods of costuming. Okay, so orange is not a great look on me, and I'm trepidatious of white jeans. But it's still better than the Swiss Miss outfit.) Merlin? :pats show: Keep on with the slashy and the banter and the cheese and the interesting snippets of world building and occasionally flashes of decent acting. You're cute and we're very proud of you.

:pokes typing skills: I know you're ridiculously fast. What I would like is for you to be *accurate*.

If that tagging thig doesn't work, you could try setting the post to a future date...that sometimes works.

I do so appreciate the Merlin fandom stuff! For I have started watching it and it's like 19 billion different kinds of slashy. Also I find it hilarious how they describe Merlin as a "young boy" in the credit when he's clearly, like, in his 20s. Oh BBC, never change.

I think the BBC has an edict these days when it comes to their saturday family tea-time shows :

'Sorry, can't accept that script. Nice content, but I'm not seeing one bit of gay. This one... not bad, but no eye-fucking or suggestive comments. You can make up for that by inserting bondage.'

He did look like a teenager when he did the Dr Who ep. maybe it was the eyeliner.

I appreciate your multi-community creation! Do you find it a lot of work, though? I guess now that RH has calmed down and Merlin's still small it's not such a big deal.

I loathe the whole intro post thing as well, it is singularly unecessary. (As far as the unpleasant layout/comments pages thing goes, have you heard about the JavaScript fix (http://txvoodoo.livejournal.com/1011155.html?thread=15862995#t15862995) you can add to your comments bar? Seriously brilliant, especially for people with unreadable/unpleasant comments pages. It automatically adds ?style=mine to the LJ page you're viewing.)

not really so much, it's more the going back and tweaking thing that takes up the time. Plus the strain I get from constant eyerolling. (you have no idea of the sheer levels of idiocy fandom can get to until you've modded. there is a reason 99% of mods get a rep for being unreasoning, overly harsh and bitchy. it's like being HR in an office.) But this is what you get when you're a control freak.

I think I might have some idea, but I dare say there's more that you get PM'd to you or whatever that everyone else misses that's pretty 'special'. Thank goodness we're not as bad as Twilight? And the 'IT'S NOT LIKE HISTORY' cries have died down...

[identity profile] burntcopper.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
oh, I know. we're tip of the iceberg and tiny and a mostly reasonable fandom.

Twilight :shudder:

I think sticky post thing doesn't work on comms :(

[identity profile] burntcopper.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
...dammit. then how does [livejournal.com profile] torch_wood manage it?

Their list of links doesn't seem to be a post; there's no date on it...
