Current food/exercise regime

Leaving as a notation.

And yes, I can do this off the top of my head as I eat pretty much the exact same thing every day for breakfast and lunch. I have no control over dinner's content as Dad cooks and he cooks *tasty*.

Brekkies : 2x scotch pancakes with butter.
Lunch : wrap w/rocket + 3-4 slices salami or scrambled eggs + 2x tomatoes + bread roll/slice
Dinner : 2 helpings of a pretty solid meal. (rice or pasta, meat often w/sauce, veg)
3-4 cups coffee w/milk and 1/2 teaspoon sugar
1-2 ginger biscuits (or chocolate equivalent)
once-weekly muffin

1h30m fast walk (with bits of sprinting)
50 squats with a bit of stretching
2h20m jogging/week.

So that's my current. To lose any of current podge I'd have to cut out the biscuits and one of the helpings of dinner. (the coffee is not negotiable) Or up the exercise, but I am a lazy sod who likes to crash on the sofa with t'internet when I get in from work and it would take major lifestyle changes to change my exercise habits. I was doing mid-week jogging last autumn but that was because I was having to burn off major work frustration.

I really need to get my excersise regime in order. I live near a couple of gyms as well as some really nice parks (I am still in a state of shock at how pretty & country-ish the area of London I moved to is) and there really is no excuse except for my laziness.

...maybe if I had an excercising icon it might help?

walk more? cycle to work? Easier to make a change like that rather'n take out a gym membership that's a) expensive and b) you might never use. having no option is easier than hauling yourself off the sofa when you're not in the mood.

The idea of cycling in London terrifies me. I do live somewhere with some nice cycle routes, but I don't actually have anywhere to store a damn bike. Walking is definitely a plan, though - I used to hike a lot, and the weight gain has mostly been since I moved back to London and stopped that. Apparently there's a local rambling group I might join, though.

._.

There’s nothing lazy about crashing on the sofa when you get in from work. You do a long day’s stuff, with a sizeable commute at either end, same as me: we deserve our sofa time, dammit!

Honestly, I don’t think the biscuits are what you need to be worrying about, though… I’d cast more of a careful eye over the breakfast, although whether you can get by without those two delicious pancakes and butter every day is entirely up to your metabolism and willpower. I’ve had to wean myself back off regular breakfasts, and now I only weaken very rarely. I take a box of carrots sticks and an apple in to work with me every day, and that normally lasts me through the morning, but then I graze almost continuously.

If you’re still worried about the biscuits, I can recommend Weight Watchers Ginger and Lemon Cookies – they taste good, with nice chunks of stem ginger that are actually quite spicy, and their effect on human body mass should be negligible. Give them a go if you haven’t already.

Oh, and would it be terribly inappropriate of me to object slightly to the word ‘podge’ in this particular context?

Because I see no podge.

I suspect it's the seconds combined with the breakfast, now that you and [livejournal.com profile] fairyd123 have pointed out how much sugar is in the tasty, tasty things.

Podge is... essentially it's a bit of stomach and thigh fat that doesn't exist when I'm not running more. Just makes a difference in how tight my jeans are. Hence the 'I can live with this no problem'.

[identity profile] fairyd123.livejournal.com 2010-06-21 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Why don't you switch the breakfast for something else? Fruit, porridge, granola, yoghurt and honey, smoothie etc? You're eating basically 10 Scotch pancakes with butter a week. They always say don't eat "white food" and you're scoffing sugary pancakes with butter. Ditch them and you'll immediately be ditching a hell of a lot of carbs and saturated fat. Requires no effort at all.

Oh and switch to Splenda over sugar. Again easy way to cut calories.

it's a thought. technically I only really need to lose about half a stone to get down to mostly muscle with very little stomach (back when I was doing mid-week jogging and not eating seconds much). What's yogurt like for filling you up in the mornings? (I'm terrible for getting up in time to spend more than five minutes on breakfast)

[identity profile] fairyd123.livejournal.com 2010-06-22 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not much of a breakfast person so I tend to graze on fruit at work but yoghurt coupled with a handful of healthy granola & piece of fruit should do you fine until lunch. The rest of what you eat seems fine its just the breakfast choice immediately stands out as being unhealthy because its high sugar and high saturated fats and you're eating it 5 days out of 7. Now and then would be fine but not pretty much every day.
