strictly preliminary predictions

So far, I'm voting Scott Maslen and Matt Baker as stand-outs.

Seriously, do we know if Scott has had any training or is he another Ricky Whittle - discovered dancing feet he never knew? Bruno's 'Sco-tt' is fucking hysterical. Natalie is probably punching the air and praising the gods for getting this much talent two years running.

Goldie I liked for sheer style - the jazz foxtrot was seriously fun. But he's gone. SULK.
Jimi Mistry - pretty good, suspect will make more of an impression as the crowd thins.
Gavin Henson - oh my lord, week 2 really did prove the pretty but dumb stereotype. Not a wiggly bone in his body. maybe he'll make up for it with ballroom but soooo dumb and vain.

Girls -

I know they say Kara is lovely and talented (and you can see that) but she's just not impinging much once she's offscreen. Either she needs more personality or Russian hotness Artem needs to take his shirt off more.
Pamela Stevenson, the judges keep gushing, but I think it's a live vs tv thing...
Patsy Kensit - she did that with 3 hours training and being overstressed? The fuck? (suspect party girl experience helps)
Michelle Williams - meh. better on the foxtrot but still so stilted.
Anne Widdecombe - all hail. Suspect she will wipe the floor with all those who're not bad but a bit average by sheer comedy value. Audience and judges laughing so hard they could barely breathe is so much better than the John Sargeant factor of being merely bad.

I agree. Pretty much with everything except Kara off screen. She comes across as demure and modest, something that we viewers tend to like. And what is really going to stiff Michelle Williams. Other than her being crap.

oh, I'm not saying she isn't - i did like her training vids - I just completely forget about *her* when she's not onscreen. I remember Artem, I just don't remember her. After a bit've discussion with fellow strictly obsessive at work, we reckon she'll probably get carried through preliminaries on talent and artem but have to get a bit more personality for later stages to stand out against matt and scott.

I was looking forward to her after last week so wasn't forgetting but I get what you mean. A bit like Ali Bastion last year?

I now have the urge to go through clips of last year's strictly to see when they started making comments about Ali and Brian, because I definitely remember Holly and Claudia making them in the later stages

I adored Anne Widdecombe's dance. Major props to Anton for giving her choreography that she can manage and have fun with. It was utterly hilarious.

I'm not that keen on Scott for some reason, but I agree with you about Matt. And I'm with you on the Gavin thing - good grief, the sheer terror you could see while he was trying to move. The only person less entertaining than him was Peter Shilton.

Jimi Mistry is fun, and I think he's going to be one of my favourites. I'm very impressed with both Pamela and Patsy. They young girl - whatshername, Tina - I'm really only watching because of her partner. My nickname for them is Kitty and Pretty. Kitty is Tina, Pretty is Jared.

Anton is possibly giggling the entire way through this contest.

Poked Matt's cv. Gymnast, trained dancer (I remember him performing in Nutcracker as part of the rats whilst on Blue Peter), was *in* a dance show for a while. I cry ringer. But incredibly entertaining and pretty ringer, so it's not like we mind. Taz is suspecting Scott had dance training at drama school, it's just that he's never had cause to use it in the Bill or Eastenders. Hmm. Perhaps we need to dig out all those old Children in Need song-and-dance clips.

Peter Shilton at least attempted to wiggle. and has a sense of humour. it may have been dad-dancing but it was better than the block of wood that is Gavin.
