That's me set...

Just been discussing with Ming the latest costume stuff.
Consensus : him as bloke from Ultraviolet - which really is a fandom tailor-made for Ming, what with gun obsession. :g: Me as Kaylee from Firefly. Now I just need a pair of overalls.
Spent yesterday reading OotP in sun and babysitting, during which we decided 'sod this, sun's still out, let's go play Forty-Forty!' (For those with dim memories of their childhood, this is hide and seek but the hiders have to get to the post before the person who's 'it', with various interesting rules and variables the 'it' person has to say before they start counting. Such as no close quarters, no post-hanging, etc. If they don't say this or 'all rules apply', you're allowed to do these things. It's more fun than your usual.
Gah. Lovelovelove. Harry becoming a bitter stroppy teenager was great, as was the whole Ministry of Magic thing, which was much more of a threat than Voldemort, in some ways. That way leads jackboots and camps, which is much worse than Voldemort's reign of public terror. It's a book of so much adultness.
Luna's great, as is Tonks, even though the Mary-Sue potential is scary.
Everyone cheer for Ruthless Bitch Hermione, with Rita Skeeter and purposely leading Umbridge to what was 80% chance her death. Hermione would make a fucking scary Dark Lord.
Acknowledgement of Ginny's encounter with Voldemort! And the snarkiness and 'boys are disposable' attitude! Go Ginny! She needs lots of
Cho was disappointing. She could've been better, but since she'd never had a character previously, it wasn't too bad. And Harry has been confirmed as gay, what with utter cluelessness and niceness.
Not too disappointed by Sirius' death, as I'd never been too attached to him, and JK made the transition very plausible. He never grew out of the reckless phase, because he got locked up before he had a chance to grow out of it. The guy was locked up in his early-mid twenties. Not conducive to maturation and lack of suicidalness. Was fascinated by all the Black being a pureblood Malfoy-style family stuff, with the house and all the relations. Sirius/Remus are canon. So bloody obviously canon. Christmas presents, reactions from Remus all through... Though I'm still rooting for Snape/Remus, as I always have. Oi, Dumbledore, you need to re-hire Remus for DA teacher. Plus great stuff with Harry's DA practical club.
However, what's with people saying JK's dropped Ron/Hermione? I kept going 'Anvil! Anvil!' all the way through it, whenever Ron got rather obviously jealous of any other bloke going near Hermione and the kiss on the cheek.
I adore the twins and their pimp dragonskin coats. And the way the teachers were doing their subtle rebellion to support it. I want those fireworks. And that swamp that's been kept for memorial purposes.
The Marauders being nasty little bullying shits is now confirmed, which I've been saying all along. And Lily's opinion of James is fantastic.
Okay, Firenze... interesting. Neville is my boy, people. We shall squee and hug him lots.
Percy... my god, you're a little shit. I kept waiting for him to do something and come back to the good all novel, but he just kept getting worse. The newspaper article and his smugness... Fuck.
