Am 24. Oh dear god... (Indonesia's ten hours ahead of the UK)

Watched Frasier, then a documentary on Dolly Parton. We have now decided to worship her. Utterly, utterly fabulous, with some of the best lines around, is she. Very savvy, and very funny. I shall take this particular one to heart : "The higher the hair, the closer to God."

Am clearing out my favourites. seriously. that's two mb there. And how many of them do I ever visit? About 5%....

Have also decided I must buy the album this is on. Yep. I'm gonna buy Dolly Parton... The O Brother Where Art Thou Soundtrack was obviously the first slippery step...

Boing!

Snow! Snow that settled for my birthday! Eeeeee! (okay, not too much, but it's *white* out there!

Oh, and flooding right across the flood plain, but that's been on since the weekend - the Thames is a mile or so's walk from here, and it goes floodplain, which idiots built on, hill. Seriously. Rises straight upon a very steep hill only fools try to cycle up. They usually get halfway up and fail. They reckon it's surpassed the marker down at Mapledurham Lock which records the height of the river aduring the last great floods - 1947 and one in the 1800s. Christ, if the water's right up to the beginning of the floodplain, then it's definitely bad. The most it went up to during the last big session of flooding Britain went up to was just the fields, which not even nutter builders will try for.

BTW, thankyou everyone who wished me happy birthday...

Right. Just come back from expensive restaurant. Before that, my day was... disgustingly worthy.

Walked to Mapledurham to see if the floodplain had receded at all. Big ole' nope. Poked around there for a bit. Then thought 'am hungry. Also need food. I know, let's walk to Pangbourne!' 2 miles. Got groceries at organic shop, paid off some credit card and went and had lunch. The lady next to me was talking about going to give blood at Cotswold Sports centre (about 10/15 min walk from home in Tilehurst) so I poked her, asked what times as haven't been well on all the days blood van's been near me or due to go out of town that day and feel somewhat guilty about it. Walked the three miles back, dumped groceries and went to give blood. It was freezing, all 6 miles of it. i must be insane.
