Started snowing again at one, tiny little bitty flakes, and is now snowing in earnest and settling - even though it's still little bitty flakes.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] katemonkey? Snow is something we're taught to look forward to in this country, especially int he south, as it snows fairly rarely...

Went outside to gaze up at the sky while the snow fell, and the recycling men came. Once every two weeks, to pick up our glass and cans and paper. They did most of it, the stopped to have a small but perfectly formed snowball attack. This differs from a fight, as every child knows, because you make a snowball, then creep round the side of the van to hit the defenceless driver with it. Grinning at the onlookers all the while. So cuuuute!

The Borderlands of Arwenack
Motto : "I never forget a horse"

UN Category: Scandinavian Liberal Paradise
Civil Rights: World Benchmark
Economy: Developing
Political Freedoms: Good

Location: the South Pacific (Caritas as soon as I can manage it)
The Borderlands of Arwenack is a tiny, socially progressive nation, notable for its absence of drug laws. Its compassionate population of 5 million enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level social equality free of the usual accompanying government corruption.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, liberal, socially-minded morass -- juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 38%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Soda Sales.

Crime is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Arwenack's national animal is the beast of bodmin, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the fishnet.

Thought I'd start a meme - just curious to see what it turns up, and how common things are. Allergies is fairly simple. Immunities - natural ones, people. Traits - any odd family traits? And no, I'm not talking about hereditary disease. Just quirks in the family.

Allergies
Soluble medicine (the kind you dissolve in water)
Plasters - combines with slightly sensitive skin.
Particular types of synthetic stuffing in pillows.

Immunities
Painkillers (I refuse to believe this false advertising; paracetamol and aspirin are placebos, dammit, and no-one will convince me otherwise)
Water problems

Traits
Wide pupils
Small hands (most pronounced in me - hands are still of child-proportions)
Top joint of middle finger on left hand is bent slightly to the left
