Right. Yesterday. Felt vaguely ill for half the afternoon (as in possibility of throwing up), went to bed for a nap at 7pm. Woke up at half nine. Checked a bit of mail for half an hour, spoke to mum, then still felt icky, so bed called again. Geurch. I hate days/evenings like that.

Fandom squicks

Sometimes it's stuff that you find disgusting (incest, sheep shagging, putting any form of body part near the plasticness that is Lana Lang), and other times it's stuff that's either such a turn-off or you can't even begin to imagine why other people might find it erotic.
So you come across a fic with that in the header line and you either hit the delete button straight away hit the back button if you're going through an archive.
Then some stuff people don't even think to put in the headers because there's no warning for 'excessively baby-ish' or 'character acts like a three year-old girl with teddy'. Am currently going through a phase of reading Sentinel fic. Some Sentinel fic is damn good. Though like all fandoms, there's the evil people who want to remove all traces that make these characters recognisable, interesting, or even able to function in normal human society, let alone hold down a job as a police detective. 'Noooo, Blair, you can't leave, I'll do anything, I'm lost without you, please don't leave me....' Repeated several times. Holding onto Blair's leg. With further embellishments of humilating behaviour. And this is supposed to be a First Time fic where presumably Blair breaks down in the face of these oh-so-persuasive arguments and declares that he wuvs Jim. I personally would've shot Jim for being a scary emotionally nut with dependency issues that go way beyond the Blessed Protector obsession that we know he's got when it comes to Blair, and stalked out, glad to have gotten away from that relationship. In which unierse, exactly, would it cause anyone with a brain to fall into bed with them? I didn't even get that far in the fic, as I was hitting that delete button faster than you can say blink. Someone shoot this writer for me? I've discovered that even the mention of bdsm or spanking doesn't turn me off *this* fast.
