aka Heather watches the pretty and the battles. mmm.

Right, this was Rifles and Eagle - in which Brian Cox as Hogan is quite clearly slashier than a slashier thing, there's a different Wellesley than the later ones (Wellington to you), Sharpe gets promoted out of the ranks, and we get to see Theresa and the formation of the Rifles. Including damn good fistfights, a couple of not bad speeches, and snobby officers. :rubs hands with glee:

Damn good tv. Hated Theresa in Rifles, rather liked her in Eagle - Rifles she had so little chemistry with Sharpe it was untrue. Hogan would quite happily knock boots with Sharpe or Wellesley. The small appearance of Lawford... meep. Lawford and Sharpe quite clearly used to shag each other blind, and would happily do so again on a regular basis. American officer Leroy and Denny... awww. So cute, when Leroy's all concerned over Denny and telling a dying Denny he knew Sharpe'd get him killed. My only problem was I'm halfway convinced that Denny was the Denny from Pride and Prejudice, one of the callow young officers the younger Bennet girls go for. :g:

Good stuff. Good stuff. And, as usual, not a lick of slash betwixt Sharpe and Harper. But lots between everyone else, including Theresa and Countess Josephine. Heh.

I'm also taking this opportunity to check how much they're bidding for Sharpe DVDs on ebay and resisting the temptation to email the high bidders and go 'you do know you can get these at HMV for 7.99, right? Or play.com? They're selling 'em for the same price you're paying, and that's including postage...' But I am snickering.

31 mins 40s today, plus 7 mins of jogging that was a combination of a wretched snail's pace stumbling up New Hill and the bit post-New Hill. With added snark from the window cleaner. Bastard.

Ebay... dear god. Getting rid of things like Ultimate Spiderman comics and Catwoman issues I really can't be arsed to read and the prices some are reaching are fecking ridiculous. They're going for the price I originally paid for them, which is definitely saying something. Suspect it's due to several of the bidders being newbies and first-timers, or at least the obsessives with more money than sense. Haven't had stuff go for this much since that time I sold those Birds of Prey comics that went for about four times their worth. Mind you, in that case I was later informed that one of the issues was like gold dust and had had a very limited production run. But still. It's comics, people! You can find the Ultimate Spiderman issues in graphic novel format - much more durable, cheaper and prettier, not to mention they take up less space and they're easier to read in one go... Oh well. If you want to throw away your money, I'm not stopping you. Far from it.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] ladymoonray? Turned out the post office was being highly finicky about that cheque I'd sent to you that never arrived - I'd written street rather than road or something, and they sent it back.
