weekend and stuff
Jul. 28th, 2003 03:47 pmFirst, who was it that was designing a Gunn site? And does anyone know any decent Gunn sites? The two I've got listed have expired.
Second, t'weekend. Partycon, The Non-Con Con, Sam and Jola's... there were many names. But basically it was a gathering of sci-fi con regulars for a bit of a party without any of the usual things, like guests and a dealer's room. We hang about, we talk, we drink, we dance. Simple and highly enjoyable.
Held in Gillingham, Kent, a scarily poor town but a fairly decent hotel that has v. high bar prices and nice pizza - 6.50 for a 12", alongside a wedding. Most of the regulars were there, including a first time of seeing Kristen in nearly a year. Hadn't realised how much I'd missed her gorgeous self. Woke up an hour late on Saturday and frantically rung Ming to say I'd be an hour late to Victoria, but caught him as he was just about to go out of the door, so he was happily lounging and sorting more stuff out. Squeed much when we got there, discussed all manner of sci-fi stuff, and overheated in the club that was attached due to lack of air conditioning.
Costumes present - Dangermouse, which won by popular vote and bad dancing (Ming has video. heh.), many Rebel Alliance from SW, dress blues in SG-1 style, Kristen and Jackie in Matrix-stylee, Ming in Babylon 5, and yours truly was announced as having 'best chance at the smut vote' by the DJ. Much silly dancing, floor clearing by the music choices of the DJ, people running for cover due to Dragon Puppet bloke's dancing - the type where you're afraid he'll hit someone. Serenading of Jola by DM and Milky in the car park afterwards, Top Gun fashion. Morning after, we all mostly arrived for brekkies earlier than the wedding party, geeked some more, my copy of Empire was nicked by everyone, ate chocolate and... well, good time had by all.
