burntcopper: (just try it)
Dyeing items of clothing is tedious and ache-inducing in the wrists.
Picked up two tickets for Starsky and Hutch on thursday, 6pm... anyone in the Reading area want to go?
Bought silly badges.
Missed postage of my very big sword by walking out the door for the bus four minutes before the delivery. Curses. Please god don't let them deliver it on a day when a parent is home.
Need to start painting today.
Posted another Strangers in Paradise book to ebay-person.

Dl'd new version of Homesite, my favouritest text-based html program. I've used 4.5 for a few years now, (the 30-day trial thang just keeps on ticking... :g:), so decided to check the 5 version. Have poked it, gone through the options and... I seriously can't see much difference. A couple of extra options, but considering I never use those options anyway... Christ, at least Photoshop when it does new versions makes significant changes.

Hmp.

Sod it. Am going to re-read [livejournal.com profile] ellaminnow's King's Own fic. Oi, Ella, more!

I have my very own big broadsword! It is dull-bladed and not shiny and probably a little big for my height (but wouldn't hit the ground if I was walking) but it is gorgeous and yes, I did spend a busy few minutes posing in front of the mirror with it. Parcelline were nice enough to make a redelivery fifteen minutes ago, thus I heart them. Parcelline boys are always very nice anyway. (saw them every couple of days at Jessops) But my sword! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

It is now under the bed, wrapped up again. And it is mine! Mine! Mine! Okay, yes, it says Excalibur on the hilt, but it was one of the few that was actually plain and sensible enough to suit me. I refuse to carry anything curved or ninja-like, unless it was for period use.

And on further notes on [livejournal.com profile] ellaminnow's Kings' Own fic. Apart from me loving the hell out of it, am pondering who the blond captain is in the surgeon's tent, also of the 74th. Am suspecting it is Viggo. Or possibly David. And wondering whether Bean will turn up as Bean or Sharpe...

am at titanstower.com , the titans site (also the one with the most up-to-date pics and info on superboy and tim) and it's addictive, going through the biographies. Not to mention the 'My eyes! costumes! Augh!' reactions.

... Which has led me to believe that there were only two eras which produced cosistently decent costumes : the 1940s and the 2000s. (and yes, each had their fair share of of 'ick'. And what's amusing is how often they revert to the original costumes of the 40s because the writers and artists just can't take the horrors perpetuated on the characters.

Mind you, if you want decency in costumes, you have to go to the one place in the DC universe where bad costuming is NOT allowed for vigilantes. And it's also supremely practical, especially if you're a girl.

Gotham City : Batman says it is his town, what he says goes, and that includes the costumes.

Women shall wear outfits that are practical! The outfits shall not be day-glo! If my ward insists on wearing a circus outfit, by the time a lad of equal intelligence comes round, I shall improve on it by making it darker and possible to wear in winter! Kevlar! Fireproofing! Lenses in the masks for night vision!

You fall into bad costuming when you leave Gotham, or aren't approved of by the Bat. See casefile : Huntress and Nightwing's non-reconciled with Bats era of costumes. Once fully reconciled, he went and got the black with a blue stripe terribly snazzy one.
And if anyone says word one about Black Canary? Fuck off, Black Canary is my baby and it's impossible to fall out of that costume. She also kicketh so much arse it's not true.

I have also finally got a digital camera. 'Twill get here in a few days.
