Icon meme

gacked from [livejournal.com profile] obsessedmuch, where icons come from, what we thought about when using them, and what they meant.

This is from a cover of Catwoman, quote from Batman Returns. Sums up one of the personality traits that's made me love Cats since I was tiny - self-satisfied, utterly self-confident, sexy as hell and knows it. For use when I'm in that mood.

Gacked this pic of Michelle Rodriguez from The Fast and the Furious (which I've never seen, I just rather like her and her attitude). This pose was... well, it was confident, and just that little bit 'cross me and see where you get'. It required 'Just try it' as a quote, it really did. Use it when I'm feeling on guard, confrontational, or up for it. A sort of 'come near and see how far I'm going to punt you across the room' one.

Heh. [livejournal.com profile] jennyo made this one from that ep where Lilah dresses up as Fred. For all those times I'm being pedantic about details or happy in my geekdom. Because not only is it about the geek love, it's about the power of the geekdom.

Shirtless Sean Bean shot, taken around the Sharpe/Lady Chatterley era, when they were pushing the sex god status in every mag across the land. Pure, utter sexy. Megs was doing a Viggo-as-devil icon with 'original sin', and Sean in that shot is pure undiluted sinner. It just had to be my default icon. Yes, you may have noted that I like the self-satisfied come hither icons...

From the 'Slash the Slashers' meme. Didn't take part, but loved the icons for their utter sexiness. I use this when I'm commenting on slash, fandom, stories, and tv.

Sean in Anna Karenina, quote from Goldeneye. It's all about the Sean and the pissed off look. And yes, I use it when I'm pissed off, why do you ask?

Door in Neverwhere, where she looks completely not-connected with this world (odd role for Laura Fraser because her characters are normally terribly grounded in the here-and-now). For me when I'm really not connected or feeling that tad insane, as the whole Neverwhere world is.

Front cover of Kill Your Boyfriend. Because she's pissed off enough to start shooting randomly and doesn't care. Mostly used when the idiots get to me, especially fandom, journalists and politicians. Pass me my uzi and time to let rip.

Sean grinning. His grin I love, yes I do, and in this pic it's just so carefree. It's not a smile-for the cameras, it's a happy one. And so this is for when I'm terribly happy or something makes me grin.

River icon by [livejournal.com profile] ljc from Firefly, the ep where we see stuff from River's point of view, where that imaginary twig is one of Jayne's guns in reality. It's River's confuzzled inquiring look that just gets me in this pic. I use it when things aren't feeling right, things are going wrong and so on. The not happy and not being able to do anything about it icon.

Alas and alack, I was the one who made the Lilah/Wesley icon. Because I think I'd be the only one to declare geek kink to be the new black.
