I'd be more comfy at at least 11 or 12k at this stage, since i get nowt in the way of time on thursday, and i can't guarantee getting much done this weekend, since, well, Cornwall. Got past their coronation. Which means I've got slightly into the plot. I really need to remember that I didn't mean this to be necessarily sequential, it was scenes as they came up along a vague timeline.

Think the next up is discussion amongst the Telmarines and then the new laws. and the ambassadors. then engagement? Somewhere in here I need to actually have Susan and Caspian getting together, or at least the implication that they've *started* shagging on a not-at-all serious basis. Not to mention I need at least a couple of mentions of Bacchus being around, since I don't trust that little bugger as far as I can throw him before I deal with the major freak out of the Telmarines about what he's doing.

BOING

:pats America on the head:

You did well. Have biscuit. You've earned it.

Seriously. I came down the stairs to the announcement on the radio, then they played the short version of Obama's speech, and he made me *cry*. I haven't stopped grinning all morning. and then I cried three times when listening to the full version this morning at work. dammit. Politicians are not allowed to make me cry. Politicians from *other countries* are definitely not allowed to make me cry. Just... don't fuck this up, please? that's all we ask.

random nano research, #573

Random shit realised/theorised during figuring out obscure, not that important details for narnia nano : (taking in filmverse)

Art pre-Jadis and during the Golden Age is at least at Renaissance level - realist oil painting as we know it. See the picture of Tumnus' dad, since they had to fit it in with the general Victorian/Edwardian feel of Tumnus' cave.

The Plantagenet/Middle-Ages style art in Cornelius' books is the same period as the scrawling on the How walls. ie, a good couple of hundred years post-Pevensie disappearance.

Need to look at 8th century Byzantine and Persian art, with a detour to the Bahraiya oasis coffins for this-world reference of Calormen figurative art equivalent to the Golden Age/Rabadash period that would survive 1300 years.

...If a horse ridden hard can make a journey in x number of days, how long would it take a carrier pigeon?

Yeah, this random stuff is for the Ambassadors and Calormen relations section. I *still* love that the Calormenes and Archenlanders will have the best info on the Pevensies, (presuming no major takeovers/revolutions and takeovers with resultant fires and disruptions of records) and finding comparative historical knowledge for this world.

Oh god. [livejournal.com profile] bedlamsbard, now I've just had Peter looking in disbelief at the borders of Narnia under the Telmarines vs. under Jadis (which was nowhere near what it became under them), I completely fucking sympathise with you trying to work out a consistent map of Narnia.

Squinting at the 'official' timeline of the Narnia. Seriously, a bunch of Archenlanders (180 AD) - only a few generations on from Helen and Frank themselves - are the founders of Calormen (204 AD)? Considering LWW takes place in 1000 AD, that's some mighty fast evolution/genetic adaptation going on there, Mr. Lewis. London cabbie stock -> Arabian in 800 years. Impressive. Considering they've still to mention any other bloody source for humans aside from Helen and Frank's descendants and the Spanish pirates that colonised Telmar.

We has good explosions. Yis.
