BOING
:pats America on the head:
You did well. Have biscuit. You've earned it.
Seriously. I came down the stairs to the announcement on the radio, then they played the short version of Obama's speech, and he made me *cry*. I haven't stopped grinning all morning. and then I cried three times when listening to the full version this morning at work. dammit. Politicians are not allowed to make me cry. Politicians from *other countries* are definitely not allowed to make me cry. Just... don't fuck this up, please? that's all we ask.

congratulations, America! You managed to elect someone who has not yet been proven to be an utter moron!
*shakes head* I just keep thinking that in sensible countries, Obama would be a centrist, Hilary centre-right, John McCain would be lucky to get in on a sane right-wing ticket, and Palin would be the local raving loonie...

Naturally, enormous history geek that I am, the Gettysburg Address references in the speech pretty much put me over the edge all over again -- not least because Mom, Dad, and I have been re-watching The Civil War lately and just hit that episode yesterday evening.
Hasty marriage not necessary after all. I've never been so happy to get to stay single. :'D
(Palinaspresident.us has put up a new layout, if you're looking to cry again -- they set the speech to music, with people singing along on "yes we can".)
