:pats America on the head:
You did well. Have biscuit. You've earned it.
Seriously. I came down the stairs to the announcement on the radio, then they played the short version of Obama's speech, and he made me *cry*. I haven't stopped grinning all morning. and then I cried three times when listening to the full version this morning at work. dammit. Politicians are not allowed to make me cry. Politicians from *other countries* are definitely not allowed to make me cry. Just... don't fuck this up, please? that's all we ask.

Date: 2008-11-05 02:10 pm (UTC)congratulations, America! You managed to elect someone who has not yet been proven to be an utter moron!
*shakes head* I just keep thinking that in sensible countries, Obama would be a centrist, Hilary centre-right, John McCain would be lucky to get in on a sane right-wing ticket, and Palin would be the local raving loonie...

Date: 2008-11-05 03:33 pm (UTC)Naturally, enormous history geek that I am, the Gettysburg Address references in the speech pretty much put me over the edge all over again -- not least because Mom, Dad, and I have been re-watching The Civil War lately and just hit that episode yesterday evening.
Hasty marriage not necessary after all. I've never been so happy to get to stay single. :'D
(Palinaspresident.us has put up a new layout, if you're looking to cry again -- they set the speech to music, with people singing along on "yes we can".)
